Farm Friends Youth Program (Ages 6-14)

Farm Friends is Cloudview’s hands-on, nature-based youth program designed for curious, capable kids who are ready to dig deeper into life on the farm. Meeting once a week for 8 weeks (March 24th–May 14th), this program invites children into meaningful, real-world learning through soil, seasons, animals, and community.
An extension of our beloved Lil’ Sprouts program, Farm Friends is created especially for older children — including homeschool families — who are ready for deeper exploration, responsibility, and connection.

Our Mission: To cultivate confident, capable young stewards of the land by connecting children to food, farming, and the natural world through hands-on learning, meaningful work, and community. We believe children thrive when they are trusted with real experiences, invited into curiosity, and given space to connect, with the earth, with each other, and with themselves.

What We Do: Farm Friends is rooted in experiential learning. Every week, children participate in guided, child-led exploration while engaging in authentic farm life.
Throughout the 8-week session, participants will:
● Explore plant and animal life cycles in real time
● Learn about soil health and regenerative growing practices
● Practice animal care and understand livestock stewardship
● Study native plants and pollinator preservation
● Plant seeds, tend gardens, and harvest organically grown produce
● Prepare and taste fresh food grown on the farm
● Participate in real farm projects and seasonal work
● Explore ponds, fields, and natural ecosystems
● Engage in nature journaling, seasonal crafts, and hands-on projects
● Experience cooperative games, teamwork challenges, and community-building activities

As in our summer camps and field trips, children won’t just learn about farming, they’ll live it. From feeding goats and chickens to transplanting seedlings, building soil, observing insects, and working together on meaningful tasks, Farm Friends offers practical skills alongside ecological understanding.

This program is designed to build:
● Confidence through responsibility
● Curiosity through exploration
● Resilience through outdoor learning
● Respect for food systems and sustainable agriculture
● A sense of belonging within a community

Who It’s For: Farm Friends is ideal for children ages 6–14 who thrive outdoors, enjoy hands-on learning, and are curious about where their food comes from. While especially supportive of homeschool families, the program welcomes any child ready to get their hands in the soil and their boots in the barn.

**We advocate intuitive eating, which creates body awareness and encourages children to honor their physical hunger cues. We allow snack time to happen organically. Children will bring a healthy snack and as they get hungry and express it, they will be guided to nourish themselves. We allow sharing of snacks and guide the children ask others to share and encourage each child to choose whether to share or not without feeling the pressure that they have to. We will also have some days where we create/cook a snack. Please let us know if your child has any sensitivities/allergies so that we can keep them safe with their food choices.
