We foster respect for the Earth and all cultures and celebrate diversity. We are partnered with and sponsored by the Columbia Basin Hospital Wellness Foundation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Our Mission: <\/strong><\/span>The mission of Lil\u2019 Sprouts Nature Playgroup<\/span> is to provide a nature and play-based experiential learning environment to help foster a sustainable culture in our community. Located in the unique setting of an educational farm, our program supports the learning and development of our students mentally, emotionally, physically, and socially.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What We Do: <\/b><\/span>Our program focuses on nature immersion, child-inspired, authentic imaginative play, inquiry-based exploration with the cooperative support of the children’s caregivers. Children\u2019s voices are at the heart of what we do: their interests, passions, questions and footsteps lead the way, alongside the seasonal rhythms of the farm and the natural world.<\/span><\/p>\n

We believe in play time!\u00a0 <\/span>Time for play gives children the freedom to develop autonomy, become invested in friendships and community, learn problem solving, conflict resolution and responsibility<\/em>. <\/span>We have guided activities, but also follow the children’s curiosity allowing them to lead the play. We gently encourage them to try new things. <\/span>It may look and feel like play to your child, but our Nature Guides have a subtle way of weaving peacemaking, community-building, and a deep respect and love for the Earth and one another into every day of play.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Parent\/Caregiver Involvement: <\/b><\/span>We invite parents and caregivers to come play with their children. We appreciate parent\/caregiver support in our daily activities, however it optional for you to attend with your child if they are comfortable without you for a few hour and are potty trained. We do not have the staff capacity to help with children that cannot use the bathroom independently, so you must be with them if they are not. Our Nature Guide Leaders (Teachers) provide a minimally structured flow to each day, guiding children through exploration in our outdoor space.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

**We advocate intuitive eating, which creates body awareness and encourages children to honor their physical hunger cues. We allow snack time to happen organically. Children will bring a healthy snack and as they get hungry and express it, they will be guided to nourish themselves.<\/strong> We allow sharing of snacks and guide the children ask others to share and encourage each child to choose whether to share or not without feeling the pressure that they have to. We will also have some days where we create\/cook a snack.
